As TakeAction’s Communications Director, Trisha Harms leads our communications team in developing creative narrative strategies to spark change and advance transformative, justice-focused policies for the people.
Trisha comes to TakeAction with a background in reproductive rights, labor organizing and queer justice. Most recently, Trisha worked as a statewide Communications Coordinator for AFSCME Council 5, where she managed digital and print media strategies; edited and designed the bimonthly magazine Stepping Up; and developed scalable, member-driven hybrid organizing models to leverage digital and traditional methods for collective bargaining, issue-based and electoral campaigns.
Trisha holds a Bachelor’s in English and Women’s Studies from Hamline University and a Master’s in Advocacy and Political Leadership from UMD. Trisha previously served as the Board Chair of the Minnesota Women’s Consortium, leading initiatives to diversify leadership and developing innovative fundraising programs, and as the Development Chair at the Minneapolis League of Women Voters. She has also served on the organized labor steering committee for the MAPL program at Metro State University. Trisha’s work has been featured by xojane, Time, Huffington Post, and in the oral history anthology Speaking of Feminism.
