Our Story

  • 2023

    Duluth Tenants was founded by Duluthians fired up to win real changes for renters. We knocked thousands of doors, surveying renters about the issues impacting them most. The high cost of rent and need for repairs rose to the top.

    We built our team and talked to renters in every neighborhood across the city.

  • BIG WIN!

    2025

    We launched Duluth Right to Repair, a campaign to win commonsense repairs for renters. When the City Council failed to act, we picked up the slack and took the question to our neighbors via a ballot initiative. We knocked over 22,000 doors and talked to thousands of homeowners, renters, and landlords in every City Council district. On Election Day, Duluth Right to Repair passed with a landslide victory of nearly 70% of the vote, sending the resounding message that quality housing for renters must be a priority in our city.

    We supported renters across the city to use Duluth Right to Repair in their repair requests to ensure they get timely fixes in their homes.
