Exciting announcement: Member leaders from TakeAction Minnesota’s active campaigns came together and made the collective decision to endorse… Senator Omar Fateh for Minneapolis mayor! 
Here’s why Senator Fateh won our endorsement:
- Fateh is ready to work WITH the people to win solutions. As a state senator for MN District 62, he’s seen firsthand what a progressive legislature can do with the right executive. He’s ready to work with the council to make real progress – not veto every solution that crosses his desk.
- Fateh is a proven leader for the people. As state senator, he led on passing a bill that funds free college tuition for tens of thousands of Minnesotans, and he won a statewide minimum wage for Uber and Lyft drivers. He secured these wins by putting people and workers first, despite massive corporate and political pressure. That’s the kind of leadership the people of Minneapolis deserve – and that we aren’t getting right now.
- Fateh has a vision for Minneapolis that’s grounded in our shared values. In that city, all workers – including performers – can make a living and expect dignified treatment. Parents aren’t struggling in a childcare crisis. Public schools are well resourced, and students, families, and educators have what we need. All of us can access safe, stable homes and put down roots in the city we love.

These caucuses are the first step in flexing our power in the competitive DFL endorsement process, which culminates in the DFL convention on July 19.
