TakeAction Minnesota Statement on DFL House Minnesota Values Agenda
St. Paul—Today, the Minnesota House DFL released their Minnesota Values Agenda, unveiling their top ten priorities for the 2019 legislative session. Among the priorities included the MinnesotaCare Buy-In, Paid Family and Medical Leave and Earned Sick and Safe Time, and Protecting Minnesotans from sexual harassment.
TakeAction Minnesota Executive Director Elianne Farhat released the following statement:
“When Minnesotans voted in November, we were clear about our shared vision for our state. Minnesotans are ready to make those visions a reality—and so our DFL representatives. We have a bold vision for care in our state that includes a pathway to universal, affordable health care, as well as statewide policies like Paid Family and Medical Leave and Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST). ESST has already passed in three cities in Minnesota. No one should have to choose between caring for themselves and a loved one or a paycheck, no matter where they work or how much money they make.
And like our DFL representatives, TakeAction Minnesota members are committed to fighting alongside survivors who are breaking the culture that perpetuates workplace harassment. We heal collectively when we transform the social and political systems underlying gender oppression. Ending the “severe and pervasive” clause in Minnesota’s sexual harassment standard is part of that healing and progress.
The Minnesota Values Agenda reflects who we are as Minnesotans and who we aspire to be.”
