Medicaid cuts are on the table as federal budget debate heats up

(Burnsville, MN)—Over the weekend, TakeAction Minnesota hosted a community event in Burnsville to talk to constituents of Rep. Jason Lewis about the massive cuts to Medicaid he supported in the American Health Care Act. Constituents took part in a nationwide day of action to hold Republicans accountable for their careless attempts repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), threatening the lives and financial security of millions of families.

“Defeating the ACA repeal is an extraordinary testament to the people across the country who rose up and took action,” said David Zaffrann, Health Care Program Manager with TakeAction Minnesota. “Thanks to incredible organizing and relentless pressure from constituents, we defeated this bill – but the fight for health care is not over.”

Congress only has two months to pass a federal budget. Cuts to Medicaid remain a threat. Health care advocates from Minnesota’s 3rd Congressional District will be trying to reach Congressman Jason Lewis. The first term Congressman has been largely absent from the public debate on health care.
