Re-Imagining a Safer, Better World

The movement to divest from police and invest in communities is not new. For years, Black and brown organizers in the Twin Cities have been pushing us to re-imagine what our communities could look like if we stopped investing so much money in institutions like the Minneapolis Police Department.

In a one-hour session held on Thursday, June 11, we were joined by Hani Ali and Sophia Benrud, organizers with Black Visions Collective and Reclaim the Block, Minneapolis Ward 3 Councilor Steve Fletcher, and Halla Henderson, policy coordinator with Minnesota Alliance with Youth, to learn about their organizing, dig into the idea of police abolition, and plug into the campaign to reimagine what we need to keep our communities healthy and safe.

The problems we face are bigger than one campaign, one issue, or one election.

We need a statewide, multiracial movement to change who decides and who benefits in Minnesota. And we need you to be part of that.
