TakeAction Minnesota Statement on 100% Clean Energy Bill Expected to Pass the Senate Tomorrow
St. Paul, MN – On Thursday, the Minnesota Senate is expected to pass the 100% Clean Energy Act, which would require all of Minnesota’s electric utilities to use clean & renewable energy by 2040. After Thursday’s Senate Floor vote, the bill is on its way to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.
TakeAction Minnesota released the following statement:
“We applaud the state’s progress on the 100% Clean Energy bill. This is an exciting and meaningful first step to get Minnesota back on track as a nationwide leader on climate action. We are ready to keep going. Passing this bill is the start – not the end – of building a state that is not just prepared to weather climate change, but to be a part of stopping it.
For too long, the fossil fuel industry has exploited the people of Minnesota and the natural resources we love and rely on. The 100% bill is a foundational step toward climate justice for Minnesota. Next, we need to win legislation that creates a just, equitable, and sustainable future where every Minnesotan has the clean air and water we deserve – no exceptions.”
